Creativity.

It’s in our DNA.

WORK.

EDUCATION.

PLAY.

It’s hard to describe the best job in the world as work. We like to think of it as a pleasure to be creating the beautiful things that we do. From inception to completion, we strive to make every job a joy to do and to look at. What can we say, we love to make people happy.
Whitney had it right when she sang “I believe the children are our future.” We do at Open Door too, and with our Work Experience Projects we put FE and HE students into a working pipeline where they are fully involved in the creation of a full project as well as connect them to Games and VFX professionals.
To not be out of touch with the next new thing, you have to be in the thick of everything, and at Open Door Studio we do our best to keep up to date with modern trends. You never know when you are going to need to fly a robot dragon through a wall of lava for an AR project, so it’s best to be prepared!

We have some very skilled people

We’re very lucky at Open Door.  Our Core team has quite a lot of experience in motion graphics, VFX compositing and animation.  Also, we are very pleased to have on board Gary Noden, a Senior Creative with around 30 years in the industry from games to broadcast.  His vision, skill and leadership are now helping us to produce some of our best work.  Below is his professional reel, cataloguing some of his work over the last 10 years.

Furthering education with experience

One of the hardest things to do in Further Education is finding actual work experience, especially in the creative arena.  Games firms, animation studios and VFX houses are often locked down with NDAs meaning that most places cannot provide a realistic working experience.  How can that be called an experience of work?

So we started thinking, “How?”

After several years of planning, organising and just plain setting things up, we at Open Door have created a working project platform that safely, efficiently and accurately puts students into an actual project where they will get a proper on-the-job experience.

Our first project is a short film, some of the reference, models and design stills can be seen in the panel on the left.  Students will model, design and animate elements from the film, the best actually making it into the final edit.

As time passes we will be adding more projects to our plans, and will introduce games projects as soon as we can.
